Imposition of sanctions for violations of veterinary medicinal products legislation
Subject: Imposition of sanctions for advertising and distance selling of veterinary medicinal products
In 2025, a series of audits were completed regarding direct advertising of veterinary medicines to the public as well as sale remotely, in violation of the relevant legislation.
The audits resulted in the imposition of sanctions on 17 companies for 2025 and continue in 2026.
It is recalled that in veterinary medicines:
– not allowed the advertising of the drug to the public as these are generally prescription drugs.
– not allowed the remote sale of veterinary medicines.
the finding repetition of the same violation by a business constitutes a criminal act and results in the imposition of a new administrative fine and the referral of the case to a prosecutor's office.
