Official visit of the Administration of the National Medicines Agency (EOF) in the Republic of Cyprus to strengthen cooperation in the field of regulatory compliance of medicines.
The President of the National Medicines Organization (EOF) Dr. Spyros Sapounas met yesterday with the Minister of Health of Cyprus Mr. Neophytos Charalambides, as part of an official visit he is making to Cyprus, accompanied by the Vice-Presidents of the EOF Symeon Psomiadis and Elias Gouzouasis and a group of associates. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health of Cyprus.
The visit takes place within the framework of the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministries of Health of Greece and Cyprus, which provides for the strengthening of cooperation in the field of regulatory compliance of medicines and marks the further deepening of relations between the competent authorities of the two countries.
During the meeting, the common will for closer cooperation between the Pharmaceutical Services of the Ministry of Health of Cyprus and the National Medicines Agency of Greece was confirmed, with the aim of exchanging know-how, developing joint actions and improving regulatory procedures through the optimal use of available scientific and administrative resources.
Particular emphasis was placed on further cooperation on issues of drug evaluation, exchange of scientific expertise and training, development of joint initiatives, as well as strengthening the effectiveness of the two authorities for the benefit of public health.
Within the framework of the visit, technocratic meetings were also held between executives of the EOF and the Pharmaceutical Services, during which specific areas of cooperation were examined and the next steps for the implementation of the actions resulting from the Memorandum of Cooperation were agreed upon.
The visit of the President of EOF is the first official visit at the level of competent authorities and confirms the will of Greece and Cyprus to further strengthen their strategic cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.
This cooperation is expected to contribute to the upgrading of the services provided, to more effective supervision of the pharmaceutical market, to ensuring the quality, safety and adequacy of pharmaceutical products, and by extension to improving the protection of public health for the benefit of the citizens of Greece and Cyprus.
